The Shadow Above
Fuyuki (19) – 冬木
Fuyuki has always believed in brains over brawn, and has proven himself a competent duellist many a time against Natsuki. In childhood, he was Natsuki’s rival, tricking him and beating him at everything, save archery were his cleverness could not give him the upper hand. Though the brothers where rivals through most of their childhood, after the death of their mother they grew much closer, seeing each other as dear friends and companions. Much to Fuyuki’s relief, Natsuki’s eagerness to take up the family profession allowed to him to pursue his keen interest in politics. Soft-spoken and analytical, he had always preferred cerebral activities over physical ones. Fuyuki starting spending most of his time in the courts as soon as he was old enough, listening to the debates with great intrigue. After the disgrace of his family, Fuyuki defended his family name with the same skill in persistence that his father possessed in warfare. Although Fuyuki has been excellent damage control for the family name, even his silver tongue can’t erase the stain of his father’s mistakes.
During the events of the siege of Second City, Fuyuki has been distraught and depressed over the well-being of his younger brother Natsuki. The siege went on for a year and half, and during that time, Fuyuki found solace in hot saki and cheap company. He began to grow more distant from his sister, Harumi and fell into himself. He came out of his shell once his brother returned home and his family was treated to seeing the old Fuyuki again. However this was short-lived when Natsuki quickly courted and married into the Crane and moved to Aketsu, in the Kishou province. After this, he spiraled even worse than before, his drinking becoming more noticeable during the day and more secluded. Harumi has since volunteered to try and bring Natsuki back while acting as Watanabe Tsuchiro representative.
